This week’s word is: Motivation
Motivation is the driving force behind human actions and serves as a guiding force for all human behaviors. The word is constructed by the Latin terms reason and action: motivus (“a moving cause”) + agere ("doing”).
What is your definition of motivation and how do you relate to it? Discuss the question here.
2. Experience the initial wave
To broaden your perspective, take few minutes to read the following thoughts and notice what comes up for you.

“People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing. That's why it is recommended daily”. Zig Ziglar

Self-Determination Theory (SDT) identifies various types of motivation levels:
Amotivation: This is when you do something unintentionally or because you are forced to.
Extrinsic External: This is when you engage in an activity to gain rewards or avoid punishments.
Extrinsic Introjection: This refers to motivation that originates internally because of external pressure. This can be ego/approval driven.
Extrinsic Identification: This is when you see meaning and purpose in what you are doing and can understand why it is important to you.
Extrinsic Integration: This is when you connect and identify with a task because it feels right for you / feels a part of you.
Intrinsic: This is when you do something because you are motivated by personal satisfaction and enjoyment. People are intrinsically motivated when they can act independently, feel that their efforts matter, and gain satisfaction from becoming more skilled.
3. Dive deep
To deepen your awareness and spark new discoveries, this week I invite you to reflect on your life and explore the following question: Are you doing the things you are doing to avoid consequence or are you doing them because you want to?
4. Ride your radiant wave
This week I invite you to become clear on what you want by identifying what you don’t want.
To do this, explore the following questions:
What outcome are you attempting to prevent or oppose?
Understanding this, what does it reveal about your strong desires?
If you shifted your focus towards those desires, what thoughts, words, decisions, and actions could guide you towards achieving them?
